      "Summary
-- The stars are aligning for a powerful recovery in offshore drilling.
-- Recent price action in the stock and bond market's are not a head fake.
-- Offshore drillers today are similar to bank stocks in 2011....

The huge glut of oil inventory from 2016 and 2017 are gone, and without new sources of supply coming online, conventional oil production will begin to fall rapidly in the next few years. Unless we see immediate increased offshore project sanctioning, we could see depletion levels far greater than non-conventional sources can possibly replace. ..

Let the stock and bond market price action guide you
Normally I am reluctant to allow my thinking to be swayed by what happens in the market but with cyclical companies like Noble, Diamond Offshore, and Transocean that are so incredibly washed out, the fact that both the stock and bond markets are rallying while management remarks are so universally positive tells us that this cycle has definitely turned the corner. This will, as is typical with highly cyclical industries, be a case where the industry bottomed on terrible sentiment and will climb steadily until the industry tops out on universal optimism. Because we are in the early stages of shifting sentiment, all dips should now be thought of as buying opportunities, and rallies are not to be sold...."

      "Summary
-- With oil on the rise, it is getting increasingly interesting to invest in service & equipment companies.
-- Especially offshore activities have been subdued since 2016.
-- The OIH ETF not only offers the chance to buy an undervalued industry, you also avoid stock picking volatile and small equipment companies...

One of the reasons why I like OIH is its underperformance (first graph of this article). OIH is trading like oil is going back to $30. The reason might be the fear to own equipment companies in case oil starts falling again.

The overview below shows the biggest holdings of OIH. The ETF holds 26 companies. 73% of the ETF is concentrated in the biggest 10 holdings which is what you get when the top 2 have a combined weighting of almost 35%. Note that both Schlumberger (SLB) and Halliburton (HAL) have a huge exposure in the offshore drilling market. Just like Transocean (RIG) which is 100% offshore focused. The same goes for other holdings as well...

      Takeaway
The oil market remains in a strong uptrend. This uptrend is fueled by a variety of factors ranging from a weakening dollar and strong economic growth to lower inventories and production problems in key countries like Venezuela.."
